Genesis 3:24

24He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.

The garden is now denied Adam and Eve. This is God’s punishment for their sin. And it takes us all the way to the last Book of the Bible

In Revelation 2:7 Jesus says to the Ephesian church:

To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

The word “paradise” used here is the same word for garden that the Greek Old Testament uses in Genesis 3. The Bible is all about getting us back to the garden, back to Paradise.

And just as God sacrificed an animal to clothe Adam and Eve properly, so they could be outside the garden, so God has sacrificed His Son to gain us entrance back into it.

Adam and Eve were dressed in what God supplied and we must be too. Our clothing must be the very righteousness of Christ if we are going to see Paradise.

And as Revelation 2:7 tells us, those so dressed will conquer. Life outside the garden now will not defeat us. It will not be too much for us. He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.

Today, rejoice that God has done all to guarantee the salvation of a vast numberless multitude. Ensure that you are in that number and live in the power of the grace of God by living a transformed life. Rejoice that the death of Christ will bring you back to the garden.
