Leadership

Hassan Bell

From Texas to Toronto, the Lord called Hassan to ministry as a young buck at the age of 18. He preached his first sermon at his home church (Eastside Baptist Church) under the ministry of Reverend D.P Williams. Hassan holds a B.S in Sociology from Midwestern State University (Texas) and an M.Div. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He came to Thistletown in 2008 and served as the Associate Pastor under Rev. Kenneth G. Davis, before becoming the Senior Pastor in the summer of 2014.

Hassan is husband to his beautiful wife, Kathy and father to two energetic little boys, Ezra and Benaiah. He enjoys good food (especially barbecue), good people and good music. He’s a football fanatic and an avid puller of weeds!

David Hunter

David (“Hunter” to his friends) grew up in a small town before moving to Toronto for college, where he has since built his life and community. He has been a dedicated member of TBC for over 30 years, where his faith and passion for ministry have flourished. From leading the Youth Group, leading Sunday morning worship, and now serving as an Elder, he finds joy in teaching and helping others discover the transformative power of undeserved Grace, which has profoundly shaped his own life.

At home, David has a talented and loving wife, whose encouragement and grounding presence have been a cornerstone of his journey. He works as a consultant at a Big 4 consulting firm, and in his downtime he enjoys the simple pleasures of life – reading, writing code, and unwinding in front of the TV.

He considers himself blessed to be part of the TBC family, and is humbled to be allowed to serve his church family there.

Alex Lee

My name is Alex Lee. I am married to my wife Jessica and I have 3 kids, Kyan, Kaia and Kori. It is an honour to serve Christ in this capacity.  I grew up in the church but did not understand what the gospel truly was until I was around 18. Through God’s grace I have learned that the good news of Jesus Christ is that we are all sinners under the wrath of God but God sent His Son Jesus Christ to live, die and be resurrected to save us from the penalty of sin. God’s grace is there so we would not live any way we want but He has given us grace to live for Him. It is my heart’s desire to share this good news to the ends of the earth, starting where God has placed us. Please pray that God will use us in Toronto for His glory.

Shawn James

Growing up in Malvern Shawn found himself asking his church, “What are you doing to save kids like me?” When the response was a resounding, “What are you going to do about it, Shawn?” a light bulb turned on and he accepted the challenge. In addition to serving the Lord as an elder at Thistletown Baptist, Shawn is the Executive Director of Urban Promise Toronto.
