Monday is Remembrance Day. We remember those who have died in wars for Canada and reflect upon the cost of our freedom. Not hard to jump from there to the Gospel is it. Believers in Jesus Christ, more than anyone else should appreciate paying tribute to those who have died to give life to others. This is the gospel and it makes all other sacrifice pale in comparison. But that does not mean we do not highly value those who have fought and died for freedom.
This famous tune gets around a lot every Remembrance Day. But it is worth listening to again. It is about people in a super market who won’t even take two minutes for a moment of silence to commemorate the sacrifice paid by those who died in conflict.

There is a day coming when there will be no more war. War is a graphic example of humanity’s need for rescue. We cannot stop war. We should be grateful for those who have fought for us. But we should all look forward to the day when the author of all evil will be finally destroyed. He will be – because Jesus died and triumphed over sin and death and hell. And there will be no-more-war.
War still goes on – in the heart against God, and because of that, in the world by people against one another. But Jesus Christ has guaranteed the final victory. War will end. And that is why all we who serve Jesus Christ should be at the forefront of ending conflict – in the soul and in the world.
Romans 5:1 -Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
Isaiah 2:2It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
3 and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go the law,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 He shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.
