Luke 4:9-11 – And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,  [10] for it is written,
    ” ‘He will command his angels concerning you, 
        to guard you,’
 [11] and
    ” ‘On their hands they will bear you up,
        lest you strike your foot against a stone.’ “
Darryl Dash, pastor, church planter, good friend, and all round great guy, had a post on his blog the other day that is well worth reading. It is called “Satan Might Do Anything to Prevent You from Suffering”. It opens with this:

“The third and last temptation Jesus faced in the wilderness, according to Luke, was the temptation to take the easy road.” There’s a great quote for pastors from Spurgeon as well.
